Texas is known for its beautiful wildflowers, and there's a story behind each pretty face. Now, two Texas master naturalists have teamed up to bring the legends to life. Cherie Foster Colburn (Heirloom Bulbs for Today and Our Shadow Garden) has collected the fascinating stories behind seven beloved flowers: Water Lily, Indian Blanket, Morning Glory, Foxglove, Prickly Pear, Goldenrod, and of course, Bluebonnet, and Joy Fisher Hein (Miss Lady Bird's Wildflowers and David Crockett: Creating a Legend) brings them brilliantly to life in exquisitely detailed illustrations. The stories in this book hail from the various nationalities that settled Texas. Here are great folk legends including fairies and magic, talking animals, cultural traditions and garb, and all the truth that lies in great lore. As readers young and old learn more about the great plants of Texas, they will discover more about its great heritage as well.
